The Ministry of Finance is in the process of launching a new electronic public finance management system in the Sultanate of Oman called ''Maliyah''. The system will contribute to the application of best practices in the management of the state's public finances to reach the optimal use of financial resources, in line with the objectives of Oman Vision 2040.

The system is expected to work on all phases of public finance management, from planning, implementation, monitoring, to managing reports associated with Oman's General Budget. The Ministry of Finance has set key objectives for the system, including, enabling decision-making through the provision of accurate financial data, enhancing financial governance and transparency, developing a system to support the application of financial accounting, enhancing the competence of national cadres in the field of public finance management, and supporting the implementation of the general budget management initiatives.

The Ministry of Finance is committed to achieving a number of anticipated positive outcomes upon the launch of the e-system "Maliyah", such as, supporting the higher leadership of government units in issuing accurate financial reports, reducing the time required to complete government transactions, optimizing government budgets, controlling public spending to minimize waste, and managing the investment of government assets in the best way.

The system will provide solutions that contribute to achieving the Ministry of Finance's vision of ensuring the optimal use of the state's financial resources, diversifying its sources, and finding a balance between revenues and expenditures to achieve sustainable development.
